Artist's Comments

My first real foray into fan art, this is an ink drawing of one of the characters from the sensational "Dungeon Majesty". Mixing a true and unabashed love of D&D, 80's culture, a ton of talent and dedication, and about $30 worth of special effects, these guys are the Syd & Marty Krofft of internet entertainment.

Anyways, embarrassing lovefest aside, this drawing was inspired by Larry Elmore's ink drawings for the "Art of Dragonlance" book, published way back before about 85% of this website's users were conceived. It's an experiment, so thoughts are encouraged.

Brushed entirely on vellum-finish bristol with a #2 W&N Series 7. I only used Photoshop to enhance the contrast.

Aw, c'mon! She's cute!
:iconisiliel:
I can really see that's it's Elmore-inspired
I love her gaze, it's quite captivating actually. She kind of holds you fast

Inspiration comes in many forms, usually just creeping up behind you

Yeah, it does remind me of Elmore's work. And the ink reminds me of old D&D source books (before they had expensive full color printing on every page).

"She's what you'd call, 'dog-in-purse crazy'."

Cool. That was the idea!

Thanks a bunch for the comment!

Ah man I loved that ol Art of Dragonlance book. Inspiration galore.

Great piece, almost feels nostalgic - which I imagine was the plan :)

You betcha. I adored that book... still have the same copy I had back in '88. I must've pored over those drawings for hours and hours.
